Keep an Open & Inquisitive Mind

  1. Educate yourself and others on the reality of animal welfare in your area

  2. Google the 3-3-3 rule and share it with everyone you know

  3. Don’t take everything you read on the internet at face value & do your own research using multiple reputable sources

  4. Remember-it is okay for your views, opinions, and beliefs to change based on the more you learn

  5. Find others who can support you through your animal welfare journey

  6. Research compassion fatigue

  7. Take time to recharge with healthy coping methods and things that bring you joy

  8. Celebrate the wins, the big and especially the small

  9. Consider that sometimes there is no right or wrong answer & most of us are truly trying to do our best

  10. Research how to lobby for animal protection laws, enforcement of laws, and more strict penalties for offenders with your county and state officials

  11. Try to be kind & forgive (yourself, us, and others in this field) for the fact that we can’t save them all or do it all
